Clean. Sleek. Unique.

The rain’s arrived in Portland but we continue to be as busy as ever down at Ruckus HQ. This week we saw several dropout replacements, a number of cx bike repairs and some great paint jobs come through the shop.

A project that we were excited to get completed was this Pinarello cross bike. It came from a customer, Tim, who we’ve worked with before. While it can be bittersweet to see a return customer in our line of work, it’s great when people enjoy the work we do enough to come back.

Earlier this year we converted one of Tim’s bikes, a Dogma, from mechanical shifting to electronic Di2. It ended up looking beautiful, very clean, and so this time he brought his cx bike to us.

The goal: A clean, elegant and uncomplicated Di2 solution for this bike.

Our job: Internalize the Di2 battery and remove all the old, unnecessary cable guides and holes from the frame. In all there were 6 areas that we needed to address:

People often bring us their bikes to Ruckus for Di2 integration because we prioritize a clean look and structural soundness. We put in an internal battery, remove unnecessary guides and holes and make sure the wiring is clean and internally routed so that very little is left exposed. Finally, we have the expertise to selectively reinforce all of this work for structural purposes.

After internalizing the battery and patching holes, Shawn still wasn’t satisfied with the external chain stay wire. So we modified it by internalizing the wire so that it now exits at the top of the chainstay.

As with every repair, the final step is some meticulous paint and masking. The paint job on the bike is intricate and required a whole lot of precision …and tape.
