Trek Madone Chainstay Repair

We’re supposed to feel safe in the garage, but often that is not always the case. This Trek Madone arrived at Ruckus after the customer suffered a “dropping incident” at home. He was in the garage tinkering on some projects when he unfortunately dropped a tool right onto the chainstay.
Now, we’re not exactly sure what he was fixing but he must have dropped something massive like a crescent wrench, for seatstay suffered prodigious cracking, splintering and delamination surrounding the several-inch long damage zone. As is customary, we wet-sanded out the damage, which actually took quite some time on this one. We then created and executed a layup schedule mimicking the original design intent of the the area. Then it went through casting and curing cycles before heading to be repainted, which, is a whole other story in itself. Normal painters fear red, but our painters are superhuman in talent.
